<br />State Agencies <br /> <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) <br />The CWCB was established by the Colorado General Assembly in 1937 ". . .to promote the conselvation of state <br />waters in order to secure the greatest utilization of such waters and the utmost prevention of floods," Floodplain <br />management activities are centered in the Flood Control and Floodplain Management Section of the Board. <br /> <br />Programs of Interest to Floodplain Managers <br />1) Flood hazard identification and review <br />2) National Flood Insurance Program coordination <br />3) Flood emergency response activities <br />4) Flood control and drainage plans <br />5) Flood data collection and documentation <br />6) Coordination with and review of federal and non-federal flood control projects <br />7) Hydrologic and hydraulic investigations <br />8) Floodplain management services <br />The CWCB is the primary State agency responsible for flood control planning.
