ExcepL for major remodeling, county building departments have no <br />jurisdiction over existing structures. Few fire proLection districts serving unincorporated <br />areas have the resources to enforce fire codes (especially true for smaller fire districts), <br />ExcepL for NFP A 299, there is no nationally recognized fire prevention code currently <br />available specifically dealing with the interface issue. <br /> <br />Action Element: Seek compliance with hazard mitigation measures through public <br />educaLion and regulatory measures: <br />I.
