The unit considered was a multi-

level structure with walkout basement. The selling price of such a unit

was considered to be $32,200, less $7,000 lot value, yielding a $25,200

structure value. Contents were assumed to be valued at $8,000/unit.

Another 1974 study, this one done on First Creek (ECI, July, 1974),

used the benefit-cost analysis spelled out in the "Interim Methodology

Benefit-Cost Analysis for Urban Drainage Planning" (Rice, March, 1974).

The 1970 FIA curves were used for determining contents damage to resi-

dential structures and structure damage to residences and small businesses.

For all other structures, damages per foot of inundation were based on

field inspection of individual structures.
A 1975 study on Big Dry Creek (VTN, June, 1975) used depth-damage

curves from the Los Angeles, California Flood Insurance Study for comput-

ing residential damages. Separate curves were presented in the Flood

Insurance Study for low and high flood water velocity. Commercial damages

were determined using the commercial physical damage table, distributed by

the Baltimore Corps and based upon flooding in the Washington~Baltimore

area. The table can be derived from those within the SCS's EWP Technical

Guide No. 21 (U.S.D.A., scs, 1970).

Another 1975 study, this one on Lena Gulch (Wright-McLaughlin, June,

1975) used depth-damage curves from the Lincoln, Nebraska Flood Insurance

Study.

Also, a 1975 study, on the Highline Canal (Leonard Rice, August, 1975)

again used the 1970 FIA curves included in the "Interim Methodology, Benefit-

Cost Analysis for Urban Drainage Planning" (Rice, March, 1974).
