Relatively mInor flooding was reported on the $outh PlatTe <br />~Iver. <br /> <br />May 1969 _ Heavy rains started on tne afternoon of 4 May <br />and continued with Only IntermittenT breakS until 8 May. The storm <br />covered an area "long "nd near the eastern slopes ot the mountaIns <br />and extended Into portions of the high plaIns. The heaviest amounts <br />were centered 25 miles southwest of Denver and extended In" band <br />along the foothills north..ard TO near [stes Park. The weather <br />station at Morrison reported a total storm rainfall of 1\.27 Inches <br />and a maximum dally amount of 5.17 inches. General flooding resulted <br />along the South Platte River. <br /> <br />April-May 1942 - The flood of April-May on the South <br />PI"tte River ..~s caused by excessive rainfall and snowmelt. The <br />sustained high flows created considerable dalTlilge m<'l!nly due to <br />erosion. Some levee failure Occurred.
