.

Sample Public Hearing Notice

The city of Piedmont will hold a public hearing on {insert date}, at

{insert time} at {insert place} to discuss the City's submission of a Flood Risk

Mitigation Plan to the State of Missouri. The City is interested in obtaining all citizens' input on

community floodplain matters.

On Febmmy 6, 1997 the Piedmont Flood Plain Steering Committee held an organizational meeting. Since that

time, the committee has been developing a plan which addresses the problems associated with continual

flooding of the McKenzie Creek. In April, the committee received information from the Missouri Emergency

Management Agency that flood mitigation funds could be applied for through a program called the Flood

. Mitigation Assistance Progrnm. This progrnm requires the City to develop and adopt a comprehensive Flood

Risk Plan following a public hearing.

The steering committee has recently completed the Piedmont Flood Risk Plan. In accordance with the Flood

Mitigation Assistance Program requirements, the public hearing has been scheduled. All citizens,

specifically those who reside in the McKenzie Creek floodplain, are encouraged to attend in order to

comment on the proposed Flood Risk Plan.

For more information on the proposed plan, contact

{insert telephone number}.

{insert name} at

.
