The areas covered by this report, in the order <br />nresented, ere the South Platte Ri'lrer basin in Colorado and <br />Nebraska; the North Platte River bQSin in ~lyoming and Nebraska; <br />and the Platte River basin in NebrQSka. The most serious <br />flooding, and consequently the greatest degree of damages, <br />occurred in the Colorado portion or the South Platte River basin. <br />Comparatively minor flooding occur:ted in the North Platte and <br />Platte River basins. <br /> <br />3. SOURCES OF INFORMATION <br /> <br />a. Meteorologic data. Meteorologic data "ere obtained <br />from the National Weather Service, the U. S. Geological Survey, <br />and by survey teams from the Omaha District, Corps of Engineers. <br />other data were obtained from the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board. <br /> <br />b. Hvdrologic data. HydrolOgic data on peak flood dis- <br />charges at various stream locations "ere obtained from the <br />U. S. Geological Survey, the Bureau of Reclamation, the Soil <br />Conservation Service, and from State agencies. <br /> <br />c. Flood data. <br /> <br />(1) The limits of flooding "ere determined from post- <br />flood inspections and field surveys and from aerial photographs. <br />In addition to the data compiled by the Corps of Engineers, <br />other information was furnished by the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board, the Denver Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, and <br />by county and local officials. <br /> <br />(2) High "ater marks "el'e set and surveyed by Corps <br />of Engineers' forces. <br /> <br />d. Flood damage estimates. Estimates of flood damages "ere <br />compiled from field survey data obtained by the Corps of Engineers, <br />the Soil Conservation Service, anQ the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board. Supplemental data were provided by the Office of Emergency <br />Preparedness, by State, county, and municipal governments, end by <br />the commercial, industrial, and private sectors of the affected <br />areas.' Information on relief end recovery expenditures were <br />obtained from the appropriate Federal and State agencies. <br /> <br />e. other reports.
