These percentages are based on data from actual <br />floods and are presented in Reference 7. <br />Indirect damages are those damages which include the cost of lost <br /> <br />business and services during the time of clean up and repair. Some of <br /> <br />these indirect damages include: The loss of sales, 'loss of tax revenues, <br /> <br />loss due to interest payments on disaster loans, loss of transportat'ion <br /> <br />routes, the cost of flood fighting and policing, along with relief acti- <br /> <br /> <br />vities and health services. Indirect damages are difficult to quantify <br /> <br />and for the purposes of this study were based on percentages of direct <br />damages.
