I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
~
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

Page 7
Chunnel Committee
December 2, 1994

length. A preliminary S.H. 1191Black Hawk Street intersection has been designed to ensure
physical space for the transition structure. An additional access point has been layed out
between Black Hawk Street and Richman Street also to ensure sufficient physical space. A
profile was also designed for this area. These designs are on AutoCAD files and displays
have been plotted.

As noted in my August 18, 1994 letter to Becky Davidson, local drainage connections have
not been inventoried. When updated mapping is compiled, the inventory will be completed
with City staff along with ground survey to verify inverts. Hydraulic grade line results will
provide the basis for locations of tie-in points.

Geotechnical Investigation

Geotechnical drilling and analyses have been completed along 20% of the Chunnel reach to
verify suitability structural soundness and quality of material for backfilling the Chunnel.
Geotech information from the City's Mill Street bridge project has been discussed with the
project consultant.

Construction Cost Estimates

Budgetary construction cost estimates have been completed and bave been previously
submitted to the City for the Chunnel project. They are based on cross section takeoffs on
roughly 300 foot centers along North aear Creek. The value of $1,OOO/linear foot includes
the Chunnel, excavation, backfilling and landscaping. It does not include S.H. 119
improvements or local drainage connections.

PRELIMINARY DESIGN PROPOSAL

The following table outlines preliminary design tasks and costs. The costs included are based
on man-hour estimates and expected construction costs. Costs for revisions and printing will
be included in final design. A more detailed task itemization is available and should provide
the basis of a contract (as required by our professional service insurer).

Coordination activities by Futura are expected to focus on design items. The Black Hawk
project manager will take over meeting with the aear Creek Water Forum, the Upper aear
Creek Watershed Association, and other agencies interested in the progress of the project.
