I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

costs; therefore, any allocation made in this report would be of Ii ttle value. An

allocation of construction costs among the local enti ties has not been included.

land required for right-of-way and structures is located almost completely

within the flood plain. The price of this flood plain property will be highly influ-

enced by the fact that it may be zoned as a flood plain. In many cases local govem-

ments and developers will work out trades whereby easements will be given without

direct purchase. For these reasons land acquisition costs are difficul t to estimate

accurately. In order to arrive at a total project cost, the average cost of land ac- ,

quisition has been assumed as 8000 dollars per acre.

Unit Costs

Unit costs used for estimating purposes are presented in Table IV-l. These

unit prices are based on actual bid prices for similar type of construction and reflect

prices prevailing in Febl'tlary 1974.

Estimated Costs

The estimated costs for implementing this project have been computed by
reaches of the channel. Table lV-2 presents the field construction cost for each
reach of the channel and a summary of the total project cost. Many of the reaches
contain a "miscellaneous" item. This cost is to cover such items as securing tem-
porary righ-of-way, care of creek flow during construction, mobilization and move-
in, restricted working hours, etc. The 20 percent contingency is deemed necessary
due to the present energy and material shortages and the inflation rate that has pre-
vailed in the recent past.

Table IV-3 presents a summary of the total project costs and a tabulation

of land acquisition requirements. The cost summary indicates which municipality

contains each reach of channel. Where a reach passes through more than one muni-

cipaity, the percentage of total reach in each municipality is shown.

IV-2
