LOCAL REOUEST FOR DESIGNATION <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (District) requested CWCB <br />designation and approval of said new report, by letter dated September 2, 2003, for the studied streams <br />contained in said new report dated August 2003; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the District has coordinated closely with the entities affected by the floodplain <br />information contained in said new report; and <br /> <br />C.R.S. AUTHORITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, requires the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board to assist in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised Statutes, provide that <br />legislative bodies of local jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any <br />storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and approval by the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, directs the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board to designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to <br />make such designations available to legislative bodies oflocal jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />CONSISTENCY WITH PREVIOUS FLOODPLAIN STUDIES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the detailed floodplain information for the studied reaches contained in said new <br />report dated August for Little Dry Creek (Arapahoe County) and Tributaries revises and is, therefore, <br />inconsistent with the previously published floodplain information for the same stream reaches; and <br /> <br />TECHNICAL INFORMATION <br /> <br />WHERAS, the study area for the subject report begins at South Clarkson Street in <br />Englewood and extends upstream to the outlet of Holly Dam in the City of Centennial and upstream <br />along the tributaries listed above; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the total drainage area of the subject watershed is approximately 25 square <br />miles with varied land use including residential and commercial development; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the subject study utilized previously prepared 100-year hydrologic information <br />published in a 1986 report by McLaughlin Water Engineers was reviewed and approved by FEMA; <br />and <br /> <br />2 <br />
