<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Table 1 <br />Detailed riverine floodplains within the City of Durango <br /> <br />Animas River <br />Gulch Creek <br />Junction Creek <br />Li htner Creek <br /> <br />; and <br /> <br />LOCAL REOUEST FOR DESIGNATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, CWCB staff members contacted City of Durango officials regarding the CWCB's <br />designation and approval process for floodplain information, and the City concurred with the proposed <br />designation action and agreed to transmit a letter to the CWCB staff requesting designation by the <br />Board; and <br /> <br />C.R.S. AUTHORITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, requires the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board to assist in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised Statutes, provide that <br />legislative bodies of local jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any <br />storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and approval by the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, directs the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board to designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to <br />make such designations available to legislative bodies oflocal jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />COMPLIANCE WITH CWCB TECHNICAL STANDARDS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the detailed floodplain information, as listed in Table 1, in said new Floodplain <br />Information Report and Hydrology Addendum with included maps, meets all of the requirements listed <br />under the Board's "Rules and Regulations for the Designation and Approval of Floodplains and of <br />Storm or Floodwater Runoff Channels in Colorado" (2 CCR 408-1); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said study was revised to incorporate detailed flood hazard information along the <br />Animas River from approximately 0.67 mile downstream of U.S. Highway 550/160 to approximately <br />0.39 mile upstream of La Posta Road and from approximately 0.58 mile upstream of 32nd Street to <br />approximately 3.56 miles upstream of 32nd Street; and <br /> <br />2 <br />
