INTRODUCTION
This report is the result of a Floodplain Investiga-
tion by this office on a reach of Boxelder Creek in Sec-
tion 16, T7N, R68W, Larimer County, Colorado. The reach
of floodplain studied and reported herein extends from
southerly of Prospect Street upstream to the Cache La poudre
Reservoir Inlet Canal. The immediate intent and result of
the study is to accurately define the floodplain limit for
Boxelder Creek as it affects Prospect Meadows, a proposed
Planned Unit Development (P.U.D.l with multiple dwellings
located westerly of Boxelder Creek and northerly of Prospect
Street. Also, the study defines the affect upon the flood-
plain as a result of protecting the development from inunda-
tion by encroachment into the flood-fringe area with
earthen fill.
This office is in the process of studying the Boxelder
Creek Floodplain from southerly of Prospect Street upstream
to Interstate Highway 25 in a more comprehensive investiga-
tion that will include accurate delineation of the floodplain
limits and determination of a "floodway" area. The results
of that study will be reported separately prior to August 10,
1978. This report on behalf of Prospect Meadows is provided
now to allow approval by Larimer County of the Preliminary
Plat and Master Plan for that proposed development. The
documents provided with this report should allow for
approval of those concept drawings and for detailed engineer-
ing design to proceed.

"

II. METHOD OF INVESTIGATION

The topographic information upon which this study was
based was taken entirely from accurate field surveys tied into
United States Geological Survey (U.S.G.S.) bench marks (BM's).
