<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />LOCAL REQUEST FOR DESIGNATION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff members from the CWCB and Montgomery Watson met with the San <br />Miguel County officials regarding floodplain management activities and the CWCB's designation and <br />approval process for floodplain information, and the County concurred with the proposed designation <br />action and transmitted a letter to the CWCB staff requesting designation by the Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, staff members from the CWCB and Montgomery Watson met with Town of <br />Telluride officials regarding floodplain management activities and the CWCB's designation 'and <br />approval process for floodplain information, and the Town concurred with the proposed designation <br />action and agreed to transmit a letter to the CWC!3 staff requesting designation by the Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Montgomery Watson staff telephoned the Town of Sawpit regarding floodplain <br />management activities and the CWCB's designation and approval process for floodplain information, <br />and the Town was not overly concerned with floodplain problems in their community and therefore did <br />not reject the CWCB's proposed designation action, however a request letter has not been received <br />from the Town; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, floodplain information for tile Town of Norwood has been designated separately <br />by the Board under Resolution No. 00-533; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Towns of Ophir and Mountain Village do not contain mapped floodplain <br />information within said Flood Insurance Study dated September 30, 1992 and were therefore not <br />contacted by Montgomery Watson staff; and <br /> <br />C.R.S. AUTHORITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, requires the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board to assist in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised Statutes, provide that <br />legislative bodies of local jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along any <br />storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and approval by the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, directs the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board to designate and approve stOrm or floodwater runoff channels or basins and to <br />make such designations available to legislative booies of local jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />COMPLIANCE WITH CWCR TECHNICAL STANDARDS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the detailed floodplain infonnation, as listed in Table 1, in said new Floodplain <br />Information Report and Hydrology Addendum with included maps, meets all of the requirements listed <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />- <br />
