The smaller, more <br />localized, events generally result in less assistance or no assistance. <br />We need helo! <br /> <br />r ! <br />1-; <br />I! <br />L. <br /> <br />Discussion: The assistance available to flooded areas greatly vary for "Major" <br />and "Localized" events. In most localized events, the economic impact to the <br />victims is proportionately greater than during a major evenL In a localized <br />even!, most federal recovery programs are not applicable therefore, more <br />creative financial assistance is required in flood mitigation activities by state <br />and local agencies. <br /> <br />i <br /> <br />Action: The Flood Hazard Mitigation Plan for Colorado needs to be updated to <br />explain changes in assistance programs. Mv plan vs. Our plan! <br /> <br />i <br />l,. <br /> <br />Discussion: Colorado streams corridors are used for <br />Agricultural, Industrial, and Municipal uses; <br />Flood conveyance; , <br />Instream flows; <br />Water quality improvements <br />Reservoir storage site; <br />Natural habitat; and <br />Recreation and Aesthetics <br />Associated environmental interests. <br /> <br />Through a flood event "Mother Nature" reclaill15 her interest in these stream <br />corridors. This can result in substantial losses lO the non-flood uses of the <br />stream.
