MONITORING <br /> <br />The second phase of slate actions involved monitoring selected locations for flood threat potential. The <br />monitoring program involved several agencies. The CWCS monitored the Soil Conservation Service's <br />SNOTEL system to obtain daily snowpack readings for selected drainage basins. The State Engineer's <br />Office provided daily streamflow hydrographs to the CWCB to augment the snowpack information. And <br />OEM field employees monitored stream conditions in selected communities in preparation for flood <br />response actions. <br /> <br />Mav ] 993 <br /> <br />On May 12. CWCB staff members travelled to Crested Bulle to provide flood preparedness <br />assistance. Actions included: <br /> <br />1) Repairing the CWCS's staff gage on Coal Creek. <br /> <br />2) Installing a second. new staff gage on Coal Creek in its lower reach. <br /> <br />3) Developing rating curves for the two gages to determine volumes of water in Coal Creek <br />based on gage heights. and <br /> <br />4) Preparing a document entitled" Flood Preparedlless Plal/I/illg 011 Coal Creek for tlte TOWII <br />of Crested BI/tte (/1/(1 GlIIlIlis(J1/ COl/llty" for use by local officials. <br /> <br /> <br />Overflow ClulIll/el at Crested Butte, CO just east of Coal Creek <br />
