STATE ACTIONS AND RESPONSE <br /> <br />Several state agencies participated in the preparation, monitoring and response to the spring J 993 <br />l100d threat. Agencies which played a major role included: the Governor's Office: the Executive <br />Director's Office of the Colorado Department of Natural Resources: the Colorado Water Conservation <br />Board: Executive Director's Office of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs: the Colorado Office of <br />Emergency Management: and the State Engineer's Office. <br /> <br />The Flood Control and Floodplain Management Section of the Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />played a m~or role in the following areas during the spring 1993 l100d season: <br /> <br />- Field inspection of t100d threatened communities. <br /> <br />- Recommendations for emergency response in the <br />event of l1ooding, <br /> <br />- Snowmelt and streaml10w monitoring for State <br />Agencies and local communities. <br /> <br />- Flood forecasts as a result of monitoring. <br /> <br />- Field documenlati(ln of flood events e.g. Rit1e. and <br /> <br />- Rec(lmlllenda\ions lin p(lsl-mitigalion activities. <br /> <br />Also. the CWCII staff (If lhc FI(loJ Control and Floodplain Managemcnt Seclion served as members <br />or lhe State's FlooJ Mitigation and Prcparedncss Team. In this capacity. the (WCB participatcd with the <br />I ;.S. Army Corps of Enginccrs.
