I have approved this updated plan.

This plan is an integral part of a broader State Disaster Emergency
Operations Plan. As this plan is activated, I ask that:

the Division of Disaster Emergency Services ensure
that the plan is adapted as necessary to the existing
structure of state government and the response
requirements of a drought emergency;

each state department or agency assigned to tasks take
those actions needed to carry out their
responsi bil iti es, and that these departments/agencies
meet on an annual basis, at the call of the Division
of Disaster Emergency Servi ces to parti ci pate in a
one-day simulation (table-top exercise) to ensure
continuity of understanding of drought issues;

all other state departments or agencies not charged
specifically in the plan offer appropriate support.

Although the state's needs may differ in detail from those generated
during past droughts, our concerns for Colorado's environment and
economi c development remai n consi stent and strong. The effective
application of this drought plan will provide momentum toward these
goals.

I appreciate the contributions that Colorado state agencies have
made to this drought response plan.

.

i
