PHASE B MAJOR DRAINAGEWAY PLAN

GENERAL COMMENTS
The plan for Clear Creek - Youngfield through Golden was chosen by the City
of Golden, Jefferson County and Urban Drainage and Flood Control District
following review of alternative plans presented in the Phase A Report pub-
1 ished in February 1982. The proposed improvements described herein were
developed utilizing criteria contained in the Urban storm Drainage Criteria
Manual (Reference 18) with some modifications due to the unique characteris-
tics of Clear Creek. The specific criteria is described in detail in
Appendix B.

A unique aspect of this master plan is the inclusion of an interim flood
hazard mitigation plan under which critical areas and structures may be pro-
tected for a reasonable cost and within a comparatively short time frame.
Under the interim pl an a measure of protection can be obtained immediately
while funding and land purchase are sought for the long term alternative.
