In a letter dated November 4, 1997, Ms. Cathy Kulzer, Project Coordinator, Roaring Fork Club, L.P., requested that FEMA revise the FIRM and FIS report to show the effects of a streambank stabilization project along the Roaring Fork River from approximately 4,500 feet downstream to approximately 1,050 feet downstream of the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad (DRGWRR). Please note that a portion of the revised area shown in the unincorporated areas of Pitkin County has been annexed by the Town of Basalt. All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted with letters from Ms. Kulzer and Mr. William P. Ruzzo, P.E. We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown on the effective FIRM and FIS report. We have revised the FIRM and FIS report to modify the elevations, floodplain and floodway boundary delineations, and zone designations of the flood having a I-percent chance of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along the Roaring Fork River from approximately 4,600 feet downstream to approximately 3,300 feet downstream of the DRGWRR. As a result of the modifications, the base flood elevations (BFEs) for Roaring Fork River increased in some areas and decreased in other areas; the width of the Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA), the area that would be inundated by the base flood, increased in some areas and decreased in other areas; and the width of the regulatory floodway increased in some areas and decreased in other areas. The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated copy of FIRM Panel(s) 0052 c; Profile Panel(s) 62P, 63P, and 64P; and affected portions of the Floodway Data Table. This Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) hereby revises the above-referenced panel(s) of the effective FIRM dated June 4, 1987, and the affected portions of the FIS report dated September 30, 1988.
