Aerial photographs I detailed topographic maps and field surveyed cross-sections were used in our analysis. The 100-year discharge (101000 cfs to 12,000 cfs) for the study site was developed by the Corps of Engineers I Sacramento Districtl as part of an on-going Floodplain Information Study of the North Fork of the Gunnison River between Hotchkiss and Paonia 'Reservoir. Based on our field investigation and the office studies our conclusi6ns are as follows: a) The site of the housing c1c,v('>lopment vias formerly a low floodplain area adjacent to the river. b) Gravel berms along the sout~ bank of the river were leveled and the low area was built up with river gravel to about 5 to 8 feet ~bove the bottom of the adjacent river channel. c) At the time of the field inspectio~ (Nov. 1977) streets and utilities wcrG ill place and several houses (6t) were eomplete~ or under construction.
