.

.~-

Hr. Gene
February
Page two

d)

~~o of the houses were no more than IS! feet from
the edge of the new river bank.

Our hydraulic analysis indicates that during the lOO-year
flood depths of flooding in the subdivision will range from .5~ ft.
to 3i feet. Flooding around the existing houses will be generally
shallowl ranging in depth to less than l~ foot.

A significant hazard in addition to the shallow flooding will
be the erosion of the loose fill on which the subdivision is built

Because of the alignwent of the stream flow and the high
stream velocities (7-12 ips) during moderate and high flood flm'!s,
erosion of the loose river gravel fill will be a continuous hazard
to the subdivision.

In su~mary, the subdivision is built in the floodplain of
the North Fork of the Gunnison River, is subject to shallow flood-
ing ranging in depth from .S! to 3i feet and is exposed to signifi-
cant erosion hazard.

Protection to the subdivision can be provided by elevating
all nev construction above the lOO-year '~ater surface elevation
and protecting the loose fill from erosion with adequate rock ripr~.

The Colorado Water Conservation Board will be pleased to
assist the Land Use Co~~ission, the local government or the develo-
per in any way we can.

Please contact me at 839-3441 if we can be of any additional
assistance.

SinCerelY~ '
C 4, .
