All western slope <br />countles have flood emergency operatlons to reduce the f100dlng <br />losses. The state of Colorado has expended nearly $300,000 in flood- <br />fight measures to date. In total, flood damages are approachlng <br />$10 mllllon wHh agricultural lands, brldges and roads sustainlng the <br />major danages. To document flood losses and asslstlng flood-flght <br />reconnalssance, the Governor's office has made funds avallable to the <br />Colorado Water Conservatlon Board for aerlal photography. <br /> <br />It is anticipated that all flood emergency operatlons wlll be <br />completed or termlnated by June 15, 1984. Many communltles wlll <br />requlre technlcal and financlal asslstance to repair and replace flood <br />damaged property. Representati yes of OODES, Natural Resources, Loca 1 <br />Affairs, Agriculture, Hlghways and other appropriate state and local <br />representatlves wlll meet after June 15 to discuss permanent solutlons <br />to some of the major floodlng problems ldentHied ln 1983 and 1984. <br />Englneerlng options and fundlng strategles wl11 be discussed. <br /> <br />further lnformatlon wlll be provlded as needed. I have attached <br />the 1984 flood forecast and flood survey prepared by the Water <br />Conservatlon Board. <br /> <br />.
