All western slope <br />countIes have flood emergency operatIons to reduce the. floodIng <br />losses. The state of Colorado has expended nearly $300,000 1n flood- <br />f1ght measures to date. In total, flood damages are approach1ng <br />$10 mIll Ion with agdcultural lands, br1dges and roadssusta1nlng the <br />major dar:ages. To document flood losses and assIstIng flood-f1ght <br />reconnaissance, the Governor's off1ce has made funds avaHable to the <br />Colorado Water Conservat1on Board for aerIal photography. <br /> <br />It 1s ant1c1pated that all flood emergency operaUons wIll be <br />completed or termInated by June 15, 1984. Many communitIes wIll <br />requIre technIcal and fInancial assistance to repaIr and replace flood <br />damaged property. Representat1 ves of OOOES, Natura 1 Resources, Loca 1 <br />Affairs, Agriculture, HIghways and other appropriate state and local <br />representatives will meet after June 15 to dIscuss permanent solutions <br />to some of the major floodIng problems ldentlfled in 1983 and 1984. <br />EngIneering optIons and fundIng strategIes wIll be dIscussed. <br /> <br />Further lnformaUon wlll be provIded as needed.
