<br />Numerous other agencies and individuals were contacted <br />for background information. Agencies included the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board, Arapahoe County, and <br />the Soil Conservation Service. <br /> <br />A public hearing was held by the Planning Commission of <br />Littleton in which the Federal Insurance Administration's <br />Consultation Coordination Officer and the engineering <br />consultant explained to the. commission and citizens the <br />purpose of flood insurance and technical methods used to <br />develop the maps as presented. <br /> <br />. On February 10, 1976 the final community coordination <br />meeting was held with all resulting problems having <br />since been resolved. In attendance were representatives <br />. from the Federal Insurance Administration, the study <br />contractor and the city. <br /> <br />1.3 Authority and Acknowledgments <br /> <br />The source Qf authority for this Flood Insurance Study <br />is the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968, as amended. <br /> <br />The hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for this study <br />were performed by Gingery Associates, Inc., for the <br />Federal Insurance Administration, under Contract <br />No. H-3716. This work, which was completed in June <br />1975, covered all significant flooding sources affect- <br />ing the City of Littleton. <br /> <br />2.0 AREA STUDIED <br /> <br />2.1 Scope of Study <br /> <br />This Flood Insurance Study encompasses the area within <br />the corporate limits of the City of Littleton. The <br />area of the study is shown on the Vicinity Map (Figure 1). <br /> <br />The city lies within the South Platte River Basin, which <br />has headwaters extending into the Rocky Mountains to <br />elevations of 14,000 feet.
