<br />FLOOD PLAIN ZONE APPLICATION <br /> <br />The County will cause, upon availability of funds and <br />resources, flood studies to be completed of the various <br />drainage basins in the County. Once this data becomes <br />available, it is possible to delineate the Intermediate <br />Regional Flood and the Standard Project Flood boundaries, <br />thus creation of the two flood districts is possible. <br /> <br />The County is then required by resolution of intent to <br />the Federa 1 GQvernment to adopt the Flood Pl a i n Zone for <br />that designated area. Prior to this, by request of the <br />Board of County Commissioners, the Planning Department <br />will hold meetings with the various property owners <br />affected by the zone for the purpose of informing the <br />property owner of the zone and its application. <br /> <br />Existing homes, businesses or any other structures in an <br />area designated as a flood plain which exist prior to <br />adoption of the Flood Plain Zone are lawful and will not <br />need to be changed or altered in any way to meet the <br />regulations of said zone. However, these structures shall <br />be known and regarded as non-conforming uses. The regu- <br />lations regarding these non-conforming uses are found in <br />Part X, Page'27 of the Flood Zone Section. <br /> <br />El Paso County has fulfilled the necessary requirements <br />to the Federa 1 Government in order that government subs i- <br />dized Flood Insurance be available to all residents, <br />business, etc., in the unincorporated area of El Paso <br />County.
