.

Arkansas River

.

.

The hydrologic analysis for the Arkansas River was based on a
stastical analysis of gaging station records as recommended by
WRC Bulletin l7. The hydrologic analysis was adjusted to reflect
the effects of Pueblo reservoir which became operational between
1970-1975. The Arkansas River hydrologic analysis therefore,
fulfills the requirements of the FIRM.

.

.

The COE hydraulic model was reviewed and found to be correct

except for a minor problem at Section 4010. The HEC-2 model was

modified to correct the problem at Section 4010 and flood

elevations recalculated.

.

.

The flood profiles were redrawn to reflect the minor changes.
There was no resulting change in the flood boundaries. The
diversion dam for the Booth Canal downstream of the confluence
with Fountain Creek was field inspected. The majority of the
structure was found to be inplace however, the dam has been
breeched and is no longer in use. The present condition of the
structure was determined to have neglegible effect on the
previously determined water surface elevations. The existing
concrete slope paved flood wall was determined to have greater
than 3 feet of freeboard for both the lOa and 500-year events.

.

.

.

-13-

.
