For North Turkey Creek, the equations presented in the Miller and
Thomas report were used to develop revised discharges for the 10-,
SO-, 100-, and SOO-year floods. Revised hydraulic runs were
computed for only the 100-year and 500-year floods because the
revised 10-year and 50-year discharge values fell below the range
of existing rating curves at major bridges, and information for
extrapolating beyond these curves was not available.

The 10-year flood profile for
use in determining reaches,
insurance zone designations.

North Turkey Creek was estimated for
Flood Hazard Factors, and flood

For Bear Creek, revised peak flows were developed from a flood-
frequency analysis at the stream gage in Morrison as presented in a
report, entitled "Flood Hydrology of Foothill and Mountain Streams
in Colorado", by R. D. Jarrett. Revised peak flows for the
ungaged portions of Bear Creek were determined by utilizing the
following equation with peak flows at the Morrison gage:

Qs Qc (As/A(;)n
where QS Peak flow in cfs at the ungaged site
Qc = Peak flow in cfs at the Morrison gage
As = Total drainage area at the ungaged site
AC Total drainage area at the Morrison gage
n = exponent

The exponent n was derived from the discharge-drainage relationship
obtained by utilizing the Thomas and Miller regression equations
and specific basin information at the sites on Bear Creek from
Morrison to the Jefferson County Line. The detailed study reach at
Morrison was not revised because changes in peak flow values
between those originally complete for the Flood Insurance Study
(FIS) and changes computed by Jarrett would not produce significant
changes in BFEs. Revised hydraulic analyses for 10-, 50-, 100-,
and 500-year frequency floods were performed for the following
reaches of Bear Creek: at Idledale, Kittredge to Evergreen, and
above Evergreen Lake.

The revised hydraulic analyses for both North Turkey Creek and Bear
Creek utilized the computer information developed for the original
FIS and was computed by use of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers
HEC-2 step-backwater computer program. Flood profile panels IlP to
38P for Bear Creek, and 272P to 286P for North Turkey Creek, have
been revised to incorporate these results.

The Summary of Di scharge Table and the Flood Insurance Data Table
have been revised to reflect the new data for Bear Creek and North
Turkey Creek.

The revision also incorporated the Letter of Map Revision (LOMR)
issued on December 4, 1987, for Coon Creek from South Kipling
Street downstream to the corporate limits of the City of Denver.
This LOMR was based on a channelization along Coon Creek in the

47
