<br />SECTION 22 <br />PlANNIt-C ASSISTANCE TO STATES <br />sourn PIATIE RIVER CORRlOOR <br />RECRE!\TIONAL AND FLOOD PlAIN DEVEI.OFMENr <br />AT <br />STERLING, COLQRAOO <br /> <br />IN'J.R)IU;,nrnJ <br /> <br />AlJ'IlI)RI'IY <br /> <br />This study, requested by the Col.orado Water Conservation Board, <br />was perfonned \.U1der the authority of Section 22 of the Water Resources <br />Development Act of 1974, Public I..a~'7 93..251, Planning Assistance to <br />States. Section 2:2 authorizes the Corps of Engineers (Corps) to <br />cooperate with States in preparing comprehensive plans for the <br />development, use, and conservation of water and related l.and <br />resources. This study was accomplished through the coordinated <br />efforts of the Colorado Water Conservation Board, the City of <br />Sterling, and the Corps to enhance the City's planning of water <br />resource projects pel~taining to flood control. <br /> <br />sroPE AND ~ <br /> <br />This study is a continuation of the September 1989 Section 22 <br />study entitled "Flood Mitigation Measures for the South Platte River <br />at Sterling, Colorado" (1989 study). Ihis study will use the <br />existing-conditions floodway model developed on the South platte River <br />
