<br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />,I <br />I <br />II <br />, <br />i <br />.11 <br />'I <br />II <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />i I <br /> <br />2.0 DESCRIPTION OF EXISTING WATER USE <br /> <br />2.1 INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />This Study began by collecting existing data related to the Study Area in <br />order to define historic water usage and shortages; to identify the water <br />suppliers and their existing facilities; and to develop a data base for use in <br />the Study, <br /> <br />2,2 DATA COLLECTION <br /> <br />This Study was built upon the large body of existing data including the <br />following: reports of previous studies; topographic, geologic and land use <br />maps; aerial photos; hydrologic data; climatologic data; water rights data; <br />water diversion data; historical water use data; wildlife (including fishery) <br />data; water quality data; data related to the environment in the Study Area; <br />recreational use data; and demand forecasts. <br /> <br />The primary sources of information included the following: the U.S, <br />Bureau of Reclamation (USBR); the U,S. Corps of Engineers (COE); the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board (CWCB); the U.S, Geological Survey (USGS); the <br />Colorado State Engi neers Offi ce (SED); the Colorado Di vi s ion of Wi 1 dl ife <br />(CDOW); the U,S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM): the National Park Service <br />(NPS): the U,S. Forest Service (USFS); the U,S. Fish and Wildlife Service <br />(USFWS); the U.S, Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service (SCS); <br />and municipalities, recreational entities, environmental organizations, and <br />agricultural water user groups within the Study Area. <br /> <br />2,3 INVENTORY OF WATER SUPPLY ENTITIES AND FACILITIES <br /> <br />For the purpose of thi s Study, water suppl iers and users in the Study <br />Area were categorized by their primary purpose as either regulatory, <br />hydroelectric, agricultural, or municipal and industrial (M&I), <br /> <br />2-1 <br />
