CONCLUSIONS

The Denver Metropolitan Area has an extensive history of drop structure
construction. The study documented four successful types which led to new
UDFCD criteria. Practice since 1991 has shown the GSB to be very successful.
This type of drop fits in a general category of sloping mass gravity drops; such as
roller crete, unreinforced mass concrete, and soil cement which have wide potential
application.

More research is needed to improve channel design guidelines to explore and
minimize aggradation, which is presumably occurring because design standards are
oriented primarily to 100 year maximum depth and velocity considerations.
