BASIN CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />2.1 Location ,and Description <br /> <br />The Godding Hollow and Tri- Town Basins are located in the southwest corner of Weld <br />County approximately 15 miles north of the Denver metropolitan area. The adjoining basin limits <br />can be dermed by the Saint Vrain River on the north, Weld County Road 15 (WCR 15) on the <br />east, Weld County Road 8 on the south and Weld County Road 7 on the west. The drainage basin <br />boundaries are delineated on the vicinity map in Figure 2.1. <br />The total drainage area encompassed within the Godding Hollow Basin is estimated to be <br />12,419 acres of which approximately 11 percent is developed. Primary land use within the basin <br />is agricultural and comprises about 10,980 acres, Of the area that is developed, the land use <br />consists of low to medium density residential housing developments, a motorized race track, and <br />light to medium industrial development. Existing development is scattered throughout the basin <br />predominantly concentrated along the 1-25 corridor. Five jurisdictional entities control growth and <br />development within the Godding Hollow Basin, These entities include Weld County (9,420 acres <br />or 76%), Town of Firestone (510 acres or 4%), Town of Frederick (1,806 acres or 15%), City <br />of Dacono (509 acres or 4 %), and Town of Erie (174 acres or 1 %). <br />The total drainage area encompassed within the Tri-Town Basin is estimated to be 7,945 <br />a~res, of which approximately 25 percent is developed. Primary land use within the basin is <br />agricultural and comprises about 5,920 acres, Of the area that is developed, the land use consists <br />of low, medium, and high density residential housing developments, parks and golf courses, and <br />light industrial/commercial development. Existing development is predominantly limited to the <br />area between WCR 18 on the north, WCR 15 on the east, WCR 12 on the south and WCR 13 on <br />the west. Within the Tri- Town Basin, four jurisdictional entities control growth and devf!lopment. <br />These entities include Weld County (3,900 acres or 49%), Town of Firestone (2,016 acres or <br />25 %), Town of Frederick (1,439 acres or 18 %), and City of Dacono (590 acres or 8%). The <br />existing corporate limits are delineated in Appendix A, <br /> <br />2,2 Drainage Features <br /> <br />Within the Godding Hollow Basin, the Godding Hollow channel is the most predominant <br />drainage feature, traversing the central portion of the basin in a northerly direction, Several minor <br />tributaries' exist within the watershed to collect and convey stormwater runoff into Godding <br />Hollow.
