The U.S, Fish and Wildlife Service has determined at thi~ point that a fish and wild-
life coordination act rejXlrt would not be required if the reconnaissance-level plan were
recommended. It has stated in its letter dated 7 November 1990 (refer 10 Appendix A)
that a planning aid letter may suffice. As was discussed previously, it has also expressed
concern for potential impacts to a plant species proposed for listing as a threatened
species. A survey for this species would be required during any fcasibilily studi esthat
may be conducted.

The Colorado Division ofWi!dlife has expressed concern thatlhe Preble's meadow
jumping mouse, a State species ofspecia\ concern, may exist in the project area. A
SllrvCY for this species would be rcquired during feasibility studies. Impacls on the
Johnny darter and common shiner are also of concern 10 the CDOW because they are
State spe:cie.~ of special concern that inhabit the Cache la Poudre River in the Fort Collins
~~.

The Larimer County Health Department had no specific comment~ al this lime on
the potential contamination along lhe channcl diversion (ahgnment B).

The Colorado Division of Highways' (DOH) plans for the Fort Collins Expressway
west of College Avenue arc currently on hold: however,. continued involvement and
coordination with the DOH during any additional studies would be required, Tile
reconnaissance-level plan, tile channe1 diversion, would cross the proposed alignment of
the expressway at Hickory Street. The impacts the diversion channel would have on the
proposed exprl'ssway and vice.versa were not determined during this phase of study;
however, it would appear that thede~ign and con$tr\Jction of the channel diversion could
bcintcgraled with the preliminary e~prcSSWa)' plan.

8.'
