<br />Larimer County's urban profile showed a high number of people engaged in retail
<br />trade. The manufacturing sector employed aboot 25 percent in 1987, Major employers
<br />in this category included Kodak ('(.lorado, H~wlet1-Pal.'kMd, Woodward Governor. Tele-
<br />dyne Water Pik, Annheuscr BllSeh, and the National Cash Register Corporation. The
<br />oonstnlction lndo.\try employed n<:arly 10pcrccnt, which reflects the wntinucd rapid
<br />development of the area, Also. the county has been an important tourist area.

<br />Economic activity forecasts for the Fort Collins-Loveland metropolitan statistical area
<br />(MSA) have been preparoo by the U.S. Department of Commerce Rurc';\lI uf Economic
<br />Analysis (BEA) in 1985. The MSA consists of Larimer Coonty, and the forecasts arc
<br />aggregated on a county-wide ba~i~_ These for~.<lsts predict continued strong economic
<br />growth in the area through 2000, Nonfarm income will he the dominant part of the
<br />economy, with major growlh f(Jrcc.lsl f~'r m<lnufacturing and ~rvi~ industries. State and
<br />local government employment, which would inehlde CSU, is also expt'\:ted 10 experience
<br />significant growth.

<br />Colorado as a whole. The county experienced the highest unemployment rate of
