railroad is close to the channel for fo<:veral hundred fecI. An accidental spill from
railroad transport could occur.

The habitat in the Fort Collins Airpark reach of Dry Creek consists predominantly
ofanarrow band ofllistl.lrbed grasses, forbs, and cattails that are of limited \'all.lc to
wildlife. DiSll.lrbance in the form of urban dcbrisand development has ocCl.lrred up to
the very edge of the creek channel. However, one property owner has landscaped the
bank with evergreens and footbridges.

There is some potential for ha;-.ardous or toxic waste contamination in the Fort
Collins Airpark reach, Extensive herbicide use for weed control on adjacent lands was
observed, espcdally in the lower end of the reach. This lower end also has one propcrty
on which several dOlen 55-gallon barrels with unknown contents were being stored
immediately adjacent to the creek, The Larimer County Health Department recom-
mended research of records and imerviewsofpcrsonnel becondllctcd for this reach if
further study is planned.

2.7
