William McDonald
Director, Colorado Water
Conservation Board
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80203

Dear Mr. McDonald:

Enclosed is a copy of the Sunnnary Report., Upper Platte River Study,
Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, September 1983;

The report completes the study assigned to the Department of the Interior
through the Bureau of Reclamation, Fish and Wildlife Service, and Geological
Survey. This complex study. summarizes the individual investigations by the
three agencies as published in separate reports, and describes the available
resource base and some of the options for the further utilization of the
Platte River waters.

Although questions remain unanswered, this technical study will contribute
information that will be beneficial in the consideration.of issues considered
at the local, regional, State, and Federal levels of Government and by the
appropriate private sectors. Comments from the States of Colorado, Nebraska,
and Wyoming express many of the important issues that will require further
study. It is anticipated that current investigations and future planned
studies in the area will address some of those concerns in further depth.

Comments received from the States have been ap~ the report.

y,

SEP 2 3 1983

~~~
Wildlife and arks
-
SEP I 4 1983
OCT 11 1983
",~~'t'1 Assistant Secretary
,Yo. and Minerals
for Fish and
Enc1osureS- 2 0
