<br />WHEREAS, hydraulic analysis for a portion of Unnamed Creek was performed by Holland tit <br />Corporation in 1984; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, revised hydraulic analyses for portions of East Tollgate and West Tollgate <br />Creeks were performed by Merrick and Company, Greiner Engineering, and the City of Aurora <br />Engineering during 1982 and 1985; and . <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the hydrologic analysis of the South Platte River, from Chatfield Dam to the . <br />corporate limits of the City and County of Denver, was prepared by Merrick and Company under <br />contract to the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District during 1983; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, hydraulic analyses for the South Platte River, from the corporate limits of the <br />City and County of Denver upstream to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers channel improvement <br />project below Chatfield Reservoir, were performed by Wright Water Engineers under contract to <br />the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District during 1985; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, further study and revisions to the South Platte River floodplain information <br />were carried out by Wright Water Engineers and the FEMA Technical Evaluation Contractor <br />during 1987; and <br /> <br />LOCAL REOUEST FOR DESIGNATION <br />WHEREAS, Arapahoe County, Colorado has requested that the Colorado Water _ <br />Conservation Board take formal action on the floodplain information contained in said report with _ <br />included maps dated April 17 , 1989; and <br /> <br />CoR.S AUTHORITY <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, requires the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board to assist in the prevention of floods and flood damages therefrom; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Sections 31-23-301 and 30-28-111, Colorado Revised Statutes, provide that <br />legislative bodies of local jurisdictions may provide zoning regulations for land uses on or along <br />any storm or floodwater runoff channel or basin only after designation and approval by the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board; and <br />WHEREAS, Section 37-60-106(1)(c), Colorado Revised Statutes, directs the Colorado <br />Water Conservation Board to designate and approve storm or floodwater runoff channels or basins <br />and to make such designations available to legislative bodies of local jurisdictions; and <br /> <br />COMPLIANCE WITH CWCR TECHNICAL STANDARDS <br />WHEREAS, the detailed floodplain information in said report with included maps for <br />stream reaches in Arapahoe County as listed in Table 3 meet the requirements for detailed <br />floodplain information as listed in the Board's "Rules and Regulations for the Designation and <br />Approval of Floodplains and of Storm or Floodwater Runoff Channels in Colorado" (2 CCR 408- <br />I), based on a cursory review only by CWCB staff; and <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />e <br />
