<br />PART II <br /> <br />GUIDELINES FOR APPLYING THE STANDARDS <br /> <br />The following guidelines are designed to facilitate the interpretation and applicatk", of <br />the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Historic Preservation Projects and to assist <br />individual property owners formulate plans for the acquisition, development and <br />continued use of historic properties and buildings in a manner consistent with the intent <br />of the standards, The guidelines may be applied to buildings of all occupancy and <br />structures, objects, and buildings of all construction types, sizes, and materials, <br /> <br />Separate guidelines are given for each of the seven treatments. as defined in the <br />Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Historic Preservation Projects (Part II, Preserva- <br />tion approaches, materials, and methods consistent with the standards are listed in the <br />Recommended column on the left Not all recommendations listed under a treatment <br />will apply to each project proposaL In addition, a project may consist of more than one <br />treatment Preservation approaches. materials, and methods which may adversely affect <br />a property's architectural, historical, or archeological qualities, and are therefore not <br />consistent with the standards, are listed in the Not Recommended column on the right <br /> <br />Every effort will be made to update and expand the guidelines as additional information <br />becomes available, <br /> <br />7 <br />
