The Sheriff and Deputies should be placed on alert <br />and await further instructions from the Coordinator. <br /> <br />3.3 Role of Florence Police and Fire De"artments <br /> <br />Like the Sheriff's Department, the Florence Police and <br />Fire Departments should also notify the County Emergency <br />Coordinator if someone from the public has called in to report <br />high precipitation readings or have observed high flows from <br />tributaries in the area. All staff should be placed on alert <br />and await further instructions from the Kayor/City Manager. <br /> <br />3.4 Role of Fremont Countv Office of Emer,e,encv Services <br /> <br />After notification from either the Fremont County <br />Sheriff Department Dispatcher or the Florence Police or Fire <br />Departments, the Coordinator of the Fremont County Office of <br />Emergency Preparedness initially will: <br /> <br />1. confer with the National Weather Service Forecast <br />Office in Pueblo concerning the likelihood, timing, and <br />severity of the flood threat. <br /> <br />2. With an impending flood, notify the Kayor of <br />Florence, and/or other city officials concerning observed <br />river levels, rates of rise, and that the possibility of <br />flooding exists. <br /> <br />3. With an impending flood, notify Fremont County <br />Sheriff's Department to send out Weather Spotters/Stream <br />Watchers to observe conditions at the Arkansas River gage <br />location in Canon City and at the Fourmile Creek confluence <br />with the Arkansas River. <br /> <br />3.5 Role of Florence Mavor <br /> <br />Upon receipt of a flood forecast, the Florence Kayor <br />will consult with appropriate City and County officials. As <br />soon as conditions warrant, the Mayor should: <br /> <br />1. direct a spotter from the Florence Police or Fire <br />Department to the State Highway 67 Bridge location to check <br />the existing water level height. <br /> <br />2. consider sending spotters out to the Chandler, Oak, <br />Coal, and Sixmile Creek locations, depending on the storm <br />location. <br /> <br />3. have someone call the Colorado Division of Water <br />Resources ~atertalk' Hotline at 303-831-7135 to monitor the <br /> <br />7 <br />
