Conic Method for Reservoir Volumes. <br /> <br />2.2 AVERAGE END AREA METHOD. <br /> <br />The average end area method to compute reservoir volumes between two <br />elevations assumes that the reservoir shape is prismoidal. A prismatoid is a poly <br />hedron with the bases represented by two polygons in parallel planes and trapezoids <br />or triangles representing the lateral faces with one side lying in one base and the <br />opposite side lying in the other base of the polyhedron. The prismoidal formula is <br />expressed mathematically as follows: <br /> <br />V = 1/6h (A , + 4M + A 2) <br /> <br />(5) <br /> <br />where: <br /> <br />V = volume between bases <br />h = distance between bases <br />A ,A 2 = surface area of base 1 and 2 <br />M = surface area of midsection <br /> <br />7-73 <br />
