Limits of the Pro- <br />ject as shown on the plans. <br /> <br />101.44 Proposal. The offer of a bidder, on the. <br />prescribed form, to perform the work at the prices <br />quoted. <br /> <br />101.415 Proposal Form. The documents furn- <br />ished by the Division on which the offer of a bidder is <br />submitted. <br /> <br />101.46 Proposal Guaranty. The security. <br />furnished with a proposal to guarantee that the' <br />bidder will enter into the Contract if the proposal is <br />accepted. <br /> <br />101.47 Reasonably Close Conformity. <br />Compliance with reasonable and customary manu-, <br />facturing and construction tolerances where work-: <br />ing tolerances are not specified. Where working tol- . <br />erances are specified, reasonably close conformity <br />means compliance with such working tolerances. <br /> <br />101.48 Right of Way. A general term deno. <br />ting land, property, or interest therein, usually in a. <br />strip, acquired for or devoted to a highway. <br /> <br />101.49 Road. A general term denoting a pub.! <br />lic way for purposes of vehicular travel,including the: <br />entire area within the right of way. <br /> <br />101.150 Roadbed. The graded portion of a <br />highway within top and side slopes, prepared as a' <br />foundation for the pavement structure and, <br />shoulders. <br /> <br />101.151 Roadside. A general term denoting. <br />the area adjoining the outer edge of the roadway.: <br />Extensive areas between the roadways of a divided <br />highway may also be considered roadside. <br /> <br />101.152 Roadside Development. Those <br />items necessary for the preservation of landscape <br />materials and features. The rehabilitation and pro! <br />tection against erosion of all areas disturbed by <br />construction through seeding, sodding, mulching <br />and the placing of other ground covers. Suitable <br />planting and other improvemente as may increase <br />the effectiveness and enhance the appearance of the <br />highway. <br /> <br />101.153 Roadway. The portion of a highway <br />within limits of construction. . <br /> <br />101.154 Salvable Material. Material that can <br />be saved or salvaged. Unless otherwise designated or <br />directed by the Engineer or shown on the plans, all <br />salvable material shall become the property of the <br />Contractor. <br /> <br /> <br />101.1515 Shop Drawings. Drawings, dia- <br />grams, illustrations, samples, schedules, calcul. <br />ations and other data prepared by the Contractor, <br />subcontractors, manufacturers, suppliers, and distri. <br />butors which are submitted by the Contractor to the <br />Engineer for review. Shop Drawings include data <br />which illustrate material, equipment and items <br />which are incorporated in and become part of the <br />permanent work in accordance with the Contract. <br /> <br />101.156 Shoulder. The portion of the roadway <br />contiguous with the traveled way for accommoda. <br />tion of stopped vehicles, for emergency use, and for <br />lateral support of base and surface courses. <br /> <br />101.157 Sidewalk. That portion of the road. <br />way primarily constructed for pedestrian use. <br /> <br />101.158 Special Provisions. Additions and <br />revisions to the standard and supplemental specifi. <br />cations covering conditions peculiar to an individual <br />project or group of projects. Special provisions fall <br />within one of the two following catagories and take <br />precedence as specified in subsection 105.04. <br />(a) Project Special Provisions. Additions and <br />revisions to the Standard and Supplemental <br />Specifications, peculiar to the project. <br />(b) Standard Special Provisions. Additions <br />and revisions to the Standard and Supple- <br />mental Specifications, peculiar to a selected <br />group of projects or which are intended for <br />temporary use. <br />i <br />101.159 Specifications. A general term app- <br />lied to all directions, provisions and requirements <br />pertaining to performance of the work. <br />(a) Standard Specifications: The Division's <br />printed book (including errata) for Road and <br />Bridge Construction. The book is divided <br />into three parts namely: <br />(1) General Provisions (Section 100) <br />(2) Construction Details (Section 200 thru <br />600) <br />(3) Material Details (Section 700) <br /> <br />(b) Supplemental Specifications: Additions <br />and revisions to the Standard Specifications <br />that are adopted subsequent to the issuance <br />of the printed book. <br /> <br />The outline for "work" items in the Construction <br />Details contains the following: <br /> <br />4 <br />
