<br />101.015 Basis of Payment. The terms under <br />which "work" is paid, as a designated "Pay Item" in <br />accordance with the quantity measured and the <br />"Pay Unit." <br /> <br />101.06 Bidder. An individual, firm or corpo- <br />ration submitting a proposal for the advertised work. . <br /> <br />101.07 Bridge. A structure, including <br />supports, erected over a depression or an obstruction, <br />such as water, highway, or railway, and having a <br />track or passageway for carrying traffic or other , <br />moving loads and having a length measured along <br />the center ofroadway of more than 20 feet between' <br />undercopings of abutments or extreme ends of <br />openings for multiple boxes. <br /> <br />Length. The length of a bridge structure is the <br />over-all length measured along the line of survey <br />stationing back to back of back walls of abutmente, : <br />if present, otherwise, end to end of the bridge floor; <br />but in no case less than the total clear opening of ' <br />the structure. <br />Roadway Width. The clear width measured at ; <br />right angles to the longitudinal centerline of the <br />bridge between the bottom of curbs or guard <br />timbers or in the case of multiple height of curbs, <br />between the bottoms of the lower risers. <br /> <br />101.08 Calendar Day. Each and every day' <br />shown on the .calendar, beginning and ending at: <br />midnight. <br /> <br />101.09 Certified Invoice. An invoice from a . <br />supplier which has been reliably endorsed by the . <br />Contractor guaranteeing that the material was pur- <br />chased and received for the project and establishing. <br />the value of the material. <br /> <br />101.10 Construction ReqUirement. Specifi- <br />cations covering performance of work required for <br />proper completion and acceptance except for specific <br />instances described hereinafter. <br /> <br />101.11 Contract. The written agreement <br />between the State of Colorado through the Division' <br />of Highways, and the Contractor setting forth the' <br />obligations of the parties for the performance of the; <br />work and the basis of payment. <br />The Contract includes the Invitation for Bids, Prop- ' <br />osal, contract bonds, Standard Specifications, Supple- <br />mental Specifications, Special Provisions, general , <br />and detailed plans, Notice to Proceed, and any <br />contract modification orders that are required to <br />complete the construction of the work in an <br />acceptable manner, and authorized extensions of; <br />time, all of which constitute one instrument. . <br /> <br />101.12 Contract Item (Pay Item). A specifi- <br />cally described unit of work for which a price is <br />provided in the Contract. <br /> <br />101.13 Contract Modification Order. A <br />written order issued to the Contractor by the <br />Division covering contingencies, extra work, <br />increases or decreases in contract quantities, and <br />additions or alterations to the plans or specifi- <br />cations, within the scope of the Contract, and <br />establishing the basis of payment and time adjust- <br />ments for the work affected by the changes. The <br />Contract Modification Order is the only method <br />authorized for changing the Contract. Contract <br />Modification Orders must be approved as estab- <br />lished in subsection 105.09. <br /> <br />101.14 Contract Payment Bond. The see- <br />urity executed by the Contractor and Surety or <br />Sureties and furnished to the Division to guarantee <br />payment of all legal debts of the Contractor per- <br />taining to the construction of the project. <br /> <br />101.115 Contract Performance Bond. The <br />security executed by the Contractor and Surety or <br />Sureties and furnished to the Division to guarantee <br />completion of the work in accordance with the <br />Contract. <br /> <br />101.16 Contract Time. The number of work- <br />ing days or calendar days allowed for completion of <br />the Contract, including authorized time extensions. <br />Where a calendar date of completion is specified, the <br />Contract shall be completed on or before that date. <br /> <br />101.17 Contractor. The individual, firm or <br />corporation contracting with the State of Colorado <br />through the Division of Highways for performance <br />of prescribed work. <br /> <br />101.18 County. The county in which the work <br />is to be done. <br /> <br />101.19 Culvert. Any structure not classified <br />as a bridge which provides an opening under the <br />roadway. <br /> <br />101.20 Department. State Department of <br />Highways. A department within the executive <br />branch of the State of Colorado. <br /> <br />101.21 DistrictEngineer. TheDivieion'srepr&- <br />sentative, responsible for construction, maintenance <br />and safety activities, within the geographical juris- <br />diction established by the Division. The District <br />Engineer is responsible for acting on written appeals <br />made by the Contractor relating to contract claims <br />for additional compensation or extension of contract <br />time. <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />
