The methods of ent-ering the graph dimensions include:

(a) Using "USER" mode input, the following card (or record
or line) can be entered:

GXMIN,2,GXMAX,15,GYMIN,l,GYMAX,lO

; !

(b) Using "FORMATTEO" mode input, the "PS. card shoul d
be entered.

3. Scaling.
The user can exert as much or as little influence on the graph scaling
as he/She desires. If the user does nothing, the program examines the data to
determine the maximlll1 and minimum data values, and then detennines a "nice"
scale (virtual minimum and maximum). At the other end of the spectrum, the
user may specify the nrinimum and the maximum virtual data points to fix the
graph scale. In between these two extremes, the user may speci fy on ly a
value of .virtual data units per division". The default nuntler of divisions
is simply the number of integral inches between the maximum and minimum
device coordinates. Thus, for the default case,. the number of x-axis divisions
equals:

.
orvx . [GXMAX - GXMIN] . [12.5 - 0] . ]2

.
where. [X] indicates the integral part of X

For the recommended CALCOMP limits at BKY, the following occurs:

. .
orvx . [GXMAX - GXMIN] . [15.0 - 2.0] '" 13

Thus, for Calcomp, the result of specifying virtual units per division is
equivalent to virtual units per inch.

There are several ways to enter scaling specifications. Variables used to
control the virtual units per division specification include:

.

XAUPI - to enter x~axis value which will apply to ~ graphs
plotted within this particular job.

~

16

..
