-;;

,desired variable name which the user wishes to specify, a value
for, followed bya separator, followed by the value, followed
by another separator, and followed (~ption811y) by another vari-
able name, etc. The "AUTO" input mode is useful in the inter- '
active environment only. It sequentially asks the user for a
value for each one of all the pOSSible variables. The user
must respond for each variable. A simple carriage return causes
no change in the current value for that variable. The third
mode of input is "FORMATTED". By entering this conmand, each
subsequent record (card or line) of input must be formatted in
the standard HEC input format with a two card column code in
columns one and two followed by a six column field, followed by
9 fields of 8 columns each. When entering variable code names,
only the first four characters are significant. Thus, the
following commands are equivalent:

"FORMATTED"
"FORM"

The first input lines may look like the following:

BATCH,CALCOMP,USER

or

BATCH,CALCOMP,FORM

.

Separaters used to separate variables in the "USER" mode are:
comma, back-slash, and question mark. Note: a blank character
is not an acceptable separator. Likewise, alphanumeric labels
cannot include commas unless they are inclosed in quotation marks.

"

11
