Sediment. The average sediment production from the l22 square <br /> <br />mile drainage area of Wolf Creek is approximately 0.45 acre-foot per square <br /> <br />mile per year. About 55 acre-fe'~t of sediment are contributed annually by <br /> <br />the Wolf Creek drainage area above Granada. Part of this sediment will be <br /> <br />deposited in the area \Vest of th,~ proposed levee between the railroad and <br /> <br />the highway subj ect to ponding from large flows on Wolf Creek. Other <br /> <br />sediment will be diverted along the levee and deposited i.n the area north <br /> <br />and east of town. Under present conditions with the existing levee system <br /> <br />there are maintenance requirements from sediment depositi.on. The recom- <br /> <br />mended plan would not change these requirements. <br /> <br />23. Flood Plains.
