S E C T ION I:

Analysis of Drainage Criteria

A.) Analysis of Cri teria ()f Enti bc,,,;,

l~e drainage criteria for each of the entities and the

flood control policy of the Federal Housing 'Jnd Urban Develop-

ment Administration was secured and individually analyzed.

Also, the persons responsible for drainage engineering in eacb

of the entities were consulted for their opinions and recommen-

dations. These findings arc as fol]o~:

The "Subdivision Regulations" of the City of Litt]eton

contain restrictive provisions both for development of land

subject to flooding and for design of udequate storm drainage

facilities. Regulations also require negotiations for the

possible transfer of water rights to tbe city from the owner

of land in a proposed development. For drainage facilities

design, the City of Littleton uses the criteria of the Urban

Drainage and Flood Control District, although the major flood

]'eoccurrence interval may be reduced to 2S years for areas

not near a major drainageway.

The "Comprehensive Zoning Ordin'Jnce" and the "Sub,!:ivision

Regulations" of the City of Englewood both require that 3dequatc

plannlng, drainage facilities, easements, rights-of-way, etc.,

be made avail3hle and he approved by the Director of Public Works

for drainage purposes for any land development within the city

limi ts. The regulations of the Urban Drainage and Flood Control

District are utilized for technical criteria in the analysis and

desi~n of drainage facilities.

-]2
