Specifically, we would like for maintenance
operations to be performed in the reach of the channel known as the "Corps of Engineers Chatfield
Downstream Channel Improvement Project" that basically runs from Columbine Valley
downstream to the Bear Creek confluence. This request includes items that were identified during
previous annual project inspections performed by the Corps of Engineers (see attached letter dated
October 16, 1997) It also includes other maintenance tasks that are necessary to keep the project in
compliance with the requirements of the Operation and Maintenance Manual (Corps of Engineers,
1990).

A Nationwide No. 31 permit issued by the Corps has permitted the requested maintenance work. A
copy of the permit letter has already been transmitted to your office for review. With this letter, the
CWCB staff authorizes the District and its contractors to perform the necessary maintenance
operations and gain access along the CWCB's channel right-of-way as needed.

Should you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me at (303) 866-3441.
Thank you for you assistance on this matter.

Sincerely, __-~/-_/-- //
~/ //..
if/?' //~;r~7L'
,:." r ./ ~{"
Thomas W.
