-

SITE A

Results
. The area to the west is assumed to be ineffective flow due to the encroachment at
station 2180 and therefore, will not affect the heiiht of the water surface elevation for
this model.

Levee Construction

Levee Heipt
. Used FIS flood profile to determine 100-yr and 500-yr levee height
. Assumed a 3' height (average) for 100-yr levee due to mapping inconsistencies
. 500-yr levee height taken from elevation difference from the 100yr and 500yr FIS
profile and adding assumed 3 foot height of 100yr levee.
. Elevations are located on plan view, plate I
. Heil:ht does not account for freeboard
. Use National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929

Levee Cross Section
. Levee should adhere to Corps criteria
. 3: I side slopes
. 10' minimum top width
. 95% compaction (standard)
. Clay material
. Concrete toe????
. Levee height dictates the base width
. See Typical Cross section on plate I

Levee Alignment
. Chosen to minimize impact to roads and buildings
l00,yr protection
. Levee begins at North side of S. 4th Ave. (Elevation 1340) of the dirt road
between Tama St. and Benton. The levee continues around the bend due
south on the East side of Benton Street until approximately S. 5th Ave_ The
levee breaks to a south easterly path approximately 50 to 100 feet north of S.
5th Ave. and should be graded down (or up) to the road elevation. (IF
GRADED DOWN MAY NEED TO SANDBAG DURING FLOODING).
The levee continues on a south easterly path starting on the South side of S.
5th Ave. and breaks due south approximately 50 South of S. 5th Ave. The
level continues on this southerly alignment until the tie-in point at the 1334.0
contour elevation at approximately the S. 8th Ave. alignment.
. The levee is approximately 1500 feet long.

SOOyr protection
. The levee alignment for the 500-yr protection begins on the South side of S.
3rd Ave. midway between Tama St. and Benton St. The levee heads West

SITE A - page 2
