Given the facts that ttle ~o~n is ?l~eady substantia:ly
built out, that much of the town is in the lOO-year
floodplain, and that a par~ia: ne~work of levees al~eariy
exists, the only feasible structural floo~ contrel
alternatives for Dolores involve levee cons~~uction. Por
the north side of the river where the town is loca~edr two
alternatives are feasible. They both involve construction
,~f new levees in combination ~ith the improvement of
existing levees from the 4th Street Bridge upstream
approximately 3/4 mile to Station 66+00, directly opposite
~he eastern boundary of the Dolores High School. One
alternative, Alternative A, would then turn nort, for 200
feet to Highway 145, then turn East for 300 feet along the
south edge of the highway to tie, into high ground. The
:;econd alternative, Alternative S, would continue alone the
110rth bank of the river for about 1250 feet, at .the easter~
~)oundary of the Dolores Water Treatment Facilit~7, the~ t1Jr~
north for approximately 400 feet ~o Higjway 145.

As mentioned above, tte two alternatives arl? identical
~~rom the 4th Street Bridge to Sta~ion 66+00. Tji~t oortion
of the project has been divided into 5 distinct sections.
~'hese are described below.
