LITTLETON OPEN-SPACE PARK LAND ACQUISITION <br />THIS AGREEMENT entered into this 13th day of October, 1977 by and <br />between the State of Colorado by and through the Colorado Water Con- <br />servation Board, pepartment of Natural Resources (hereinafter called <br />the "State"), and the City .of Littleton (hereinafter called the "City"), <br />WITNESSETH THAT: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, construction of channel and levee improvements along the <br />South Platte River between the Chatfield Lake Project and Denver was <br />authorized by section 204 of the Flood Control Act of 1950 (Public <br />Law 516, 8lst Congress, 2nd Session); and <br />WHEREAS, Section 88 of the Water Resources Development Act of <br />1974, Public Law 93-251, modified the Flood Control Act of 1950 to <br />.~ <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />authorize the United States of America to participate with local <br />interests in the acquisition of land and interest therein necessary for <br />flood control purposes in lieu of a portion of the authorized channel <br /> <br />improvements, with the required land available for <br />recreation uses, the State and the City agree that <br /> <br />potential collateral <br />\ <br />such federal par- <br /> <br />ticipation, as described in an agreement between the State and the <br />Unites States of America dated September 7, 1977, will be limited to <br />Reach One of the Project as below described; and <br />
