Riverine flooding is not a
major issue. No problems are anticipated in converting the community.

I was assisted by Tom Stone of Gingery Associates in conducting the final meeting
for Glenwood Springs. I opened the meeting by discussing the purpose of the de-
tailed analysis and how it relates to the communty's continued participation in
the NFlP.

Mr. Stone explained the technical aspects of the study with particular emphasis place
on the mudflow areas in the community,

General discussion by the Council centered on the use of the FIS in the community
to regulate the flood plain areas and the feeling that another Federal program
was requiring more local ordinances and regulations. Council members did believe
that there was a need for the insurance and that citizens should have a right to
purchase coverage.

I explained the appeals procedure and the necessary flood plain management measures
that must be incorporated into a local Flood Plain Management Ordinance. I
stressed that the lowest floor including basement, must be elevated to the base
flood level.

Copies of the appeals procedure, insurance rate manual and sample ordinance were
provided to the community.

Community Information: CCO - Ashton Durrett, Mayor, 806 Cooper, Glenwood Springs,
Colorado 81601
Map Repository: Office of Planning, City Hall, 806 Cooper, Glenwood S~rings, CO

TEC. and Denver Docket Files

"-
Concur: Jerome M.
